Thomas Sloan Obituary

Thomas Lee Sloan was born April 10, 1956 in Denver Colorado to Russell Lee and Sarajane (Hoffman) Sloan. Tom grew up in Thornton Colorado where him mom, Sarajane Anderson, owned Archie's Barbers for 40 plus years. Tom was married for a short time but became an independent bachelor with no children. Tom passed away Sept 3, 2022 after a short illness.

Tom graduated from Highland High School in 1974. He was active on the Speech and Debate Team, and in band he played trombone. Tom's debating skills earned him a scholarship to West Virginia University where he earned his bachelors degree in statistics and psychology in 1978.  After college Tom became an actuary and lived in Baltimore and Washington DC, working for Crown Life, The World Bank, and others. Tom produced an actuarial math video training series.

Tom returned to Colorado to help his aging mother. Back in Colorado Tom started teaching high school. Tom taught math at Washington High School in Denver, and sponsored the robotics team. When Tom retired, he did income taxes part time. Tom was proud of living in Thornton and working just one mile from his first job at The Ghetto.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents; Russell Lee Sloan, Denver CO, Sarajane (Hoffman, Sloan) Anderson, Arvada CO, Don Anderson, El Paso TX

Tom is survived by his brother Mark Sloan (Redwood City CA) and his two nephews Scott Sloan (Buena Vista CO) and Cody Sloan (Redwood City CA)
