Manuel Felipe De Herrera, the greatest daddy, husband, grandpa and friend passed away on March 12th in Brighton Colorado. He was born November 8, 1930, in Antonito Colorado to Jose and Josephine (Pacheco) De Herrera.
He grew up in the San Luis Valley where his parents had a family ranch. While a young boy he was quite the competitive Bronc Rider. He was headed to the National Championship when he received his Draft Papers for the Korean War. He served in the army from 1952-1954. While serving our country he earned the Bronze Star. After returning home he worked in the mines for a period of time but then went to work for Mountain Bell where he ended up staying and retiring after 22 years of employment. In his spare time, he enjoyed rebuilding vehicles and working in his yard.
Manuel is survived by his wife Patricia of Fort Garland. His four children from his first marriage to Cordy Perea. Roxie (Robert) Halfpap, Sharon Chavez, John De Herrera, Donnie De Herrera (Deceased). His two children from his second marriage to Susan Towles. Michelle De Herrera, Charla (Jeff) Gray. Countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
