John Morales Sr. Obituary

John R. Morales Sr., age 70, passed away on May 4, 2021, in Brighton, Colorado. He was born in Wattenburg, Colorado, to Tomas Morales and Victoria Chavez and was the youngest of 10 siblings. He attended Ft. Lupton High School and joined the US Army at the young age of 17. John served in the Vietnam War and was immensely proud to defend his country. On August 19, 1972, he married his childhood sweetheart Mary Louise Navarro. They were happily married for more than 48 years.

For labor, John worked for Adams County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator, for over 20 years. After he retired from the Highway Department, he moved and renovated a house on their property in Wattenburg, Colorado, where they eventually lived for 15 years. In 2010 after the birth of their 2nd grandson, the family moved back to Brighton, Colorado.  John was a hardworking man and would do anything to help his friends, loved ones and literally anyone he saw in need.

John was a tremendously loving husband, father, brother, brother-in-law and friend. He was fun to be around and was quick to crack a joke or imitate his friends and family. He loved to play his guitar, and you would often hear him singing "De Colores."

John had many struggles in his life, including losing his father at an early age, PTSD, and cancer. These struggles led him to look for help from a higher power, namely Jesus Christ. His faith in Jesus grew over the years, and he loved to learn more about God and study the bible. His belief in Christ was with him to the end, and he was ready to meet his savior.

John is survived by his wife Mary Louise Morales, his son John R. Morales, Jr., daughter Monica L. DeJesus, son-in-law Benito DeJesus, and his three grandsons Jeremiah, Judah, and Joseph. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister Emma and two of his brothers Tom and Jimmy.
