Geno Ray Fuentes, 42, of Ft. Lupton, passed away in Trinidad, Colorado on February 4, 2020. Geno was born on March 13, 1977 in Denver, Colorado to Daniel and Teresa Fuentes and was a graduate of Brighton High School in 1995.
Geno attended public schools in Brighton including Northeast Elementary and Overland Middle School. He also attended Northwestern College for two years in Powell, Wyoming. Geno was a lifetime resident of Brighton and worked as an Electrician for Sturgeon Electric and The Electrical Union #58.
Geno’s love and passion for wrestling began at the age of three. He was Tulsa National Champion in 1991. As a sophomore in high school, he was crowned a Greco National Champion in Colombia, Missouri. In 1995, Geno was an undefeated Colorado State Champion for the 5A State Championship Team at Brighton High School.
Geno is survived by both his children, Jericha and Deion Fuentes of Ft. Lupton, Colorado; parents, Teresa Fuentes of Ft. Lupton, Colorado and Daniel Fuentes of Commerce City, Colorado. Survivors also include his brother, Ernest P. Fuentes of Ft. Lupton, Colorado; and a sister, Rachel M. Fuentes of Commerce City, Colorado; numerous cousins and aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service to honor Geno at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at Tabor Funeral Home, 75 South 13th Avenue, in Brighton. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Ft. Lupton, Colorado.
