Edna (Timm) Egan

Edna Egan April 12, 1940 - March 9, 2023 Edna lived on a farm west of Brighton where she enjoyed growing up with her four sisters and one brother. In addition, Edna reveled in the friends and extended family that lived in the area. Edna learned the value of hard work on the farm, the importance of farmers and gained a deep appreciation for the love of family and friends. Edna attended Zion Lutheran School through eighth grade and then, after 4 years of public school, graduating from Brighton High School.

After marrying a farm boy from east of Brighton on November 4, 1960, she and her husband Art, moved to Brighton. In Brighton she made life-long friends of her neighbors. She worked for the county in Bertha Heid’s office. Later she worked as a medical transcriptionist in various hospitals before starting her own medical transcription service which she operated out of the basement of her home.

After a few years living in Brighton, Edna and Art moved to a small acreage west of Brighton, less than a mile from where she grew up. She lived at this location for 52 years, tending her flower garden, occasionally playing the piano and enjoying the open space. Edna and Art loved bicycling on area trails, often stopping to talk with people along the way. Edna and Art took several trips with her sisters and brother including a cruise to Alaska and a trip to Branson.

Edna and Art took several other trips including a European river cruise, a Mississippi river cruise and a cruise through the Panama Canal.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents William and Frances Timm, aunt and uncle Aldine and Rudy Kozacek, her sisters, Dorothy Rowe, Wilma Promes and her brother Robert Timm, nieces Terry Wilson, Beverly Malloy, Tammy (Timm) Draper nephew-in-law Steve (Deb Rose) Jackson, brothers in-law Robert Wilson, George Promes and Ken Rowe. Edna was also preceded in death by her mother-and father-in law Vendla and William Egan, brothers-and sisters-in law Frances(Egan) Hose and Emil Hose, Marion (Egan) Finley and Richard Finley, and Stanley, Donald and Carolyn Egan. Edna is survived by her husband, her son Rick, sisters, Helen Wilson, Kathy (Jim) Rose, cousin Ernest (Kris) Kozacek, sister-in-law Pam Timm, brother-in-laws Clint (Gayle) Egan, William (Jo) Egan, and numerous nephews and nieces.

During her short illness, Edna and her family were beneficiaries of wonderful and kind medical professionals including those at Sun Tree Hospice.

In honor of Edna’s wishes, there will be no service, but she leaves a message of love and appreciation for all the kind people who crossed her path in life. Edna was loved by all and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
