Edith Mae Wittmus
Edith (Peggy Ticknor) Wittmus was born June 26, 1932 to Elmer and Tillie (Keck) Ticknor in Burke, South Dakota where she grew up and graduated from Burke Public Schools in 1951. After graduating, she was united in marriage to Dean Wittmus on October 12, 1952.
After the wedding, the couple moved to San Diego, CA for a short stint, then to Denver, CO where her husband completed barber school. In 1959 the two purchased a barbershop in Fort Lupton, where Dean worked for many years.
Peggy was employed with Fort Lupton Schools for 5 years, and then she worked for the Weld County Clerk and Recorder offices for 17 years, retiring May 1, 1995. Peggy was a cancer survivor, enjoyed playing golf, craps, and shopping.
Edith is survived by two sons and a daughter; Ricky (Denise), Terry (J.) and Sherrill (Craig) Simmonds. As well as one grand-daughter, 6 grandsons, 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters. She is preceded in death by her husband Dean Wittmus, by both parents, Elmer and Tille, and her youngest son, Scott Wittmus.
