Candace Candy Davis

Mary Candace "Candy" Cummings Davis age 67 passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 26, 2023. Candy was born September 20, 1955 in Plainfield, NJ, raised in Phillipsburg, NJ. Candy was a graduate of Phillipsburg Catholic High School class of 1973, she then went on to study Physical Education at Glassboro State College, Glassboro NJ. Candy excelled in basketball and twirling, she was the captain of the girls’ basketball team and twirling squad her senior year of high school. Candy was also the featured twirler at Glassboro State College. Later in life, Candy received her M.A. in Computer Science Education from St. Francis DeSales College, Allentown PA. Candy is survived by her two sons, Fred Davis, fiancé Jodie Meyer, James Davis, daughter-in-law Caeleigh, and three beloved and cherished grandchildren, Hope, Grayson, and Lola. As well as her siblings Jacqueline Kulick (John), Cornelius III Cummings, Catherine L. Cummings DMD (USN retired), twin Carol Weber (Rick), Peter D. Cummings (Mary Anne), Pat Cummings, Timothy Cummings (Jeanne) as well as many nieces and nephews. Candy is predeceased by brothers Michael, Christopher, and parents Jaqueline and Cornelius Cummings. Candy was a physical education teacher throughout the Catholic Diocese of Allentown Pennsylvania, as well as the Public School District of Allentown. She was a well-respected and loved gymnastic, volleyball, and track & field coach. Candy was instrumental in raising thousands of dollars for the Jump Rope for Heart organization. Upon moving to Colorado in 2013 Candy continued her professional livelihood as a substitute teacher. 

Candy lived a full life surrounding herself with her sons, grandchildren, and beloved twin sister Carol and brother -in-law Rick. Candy enjoyed spending her free time creating “stampin” cards by hand for all occasions for family and friends. When she wasn't stamping or with her grandchildren you could find Candy strolling down Main Street in Disney World with her fun-loving twin sister Carol. Candy and Carol were two peas in a pod, always the life of the party. Candy loved to travel around the world with her family and friends, while traveling Candy collected many Engel-Puppe Dolls from Germany. She was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints and loved watching football on Sundays with her sons.  

Candy brought joy to all who crossed her path, she was a selfless, kind, loving, beautiful person. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She has left a lasting impression on all of us and was taken from this world far too soon; Candy will be missed eternally by all friends and family throughout the country. In lieu of flowers hug someone you love, or contributions can be made in her memory to the American Heart Association. Funeral services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, February 1st at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home, Brighton, CO.  A memorial mass will be offered in Candy’s memory, to be announced in the near future for her family and friends in the Lehigh Valley.
