LaVonne Freeman

LaVonne Freeman, 96, died peacefully at her winter home in Mesa, Arizona on December 9, 2019.

She was born June 28, 1923, in Sargeant Bluff, IA to William Edwards and Edna Feaster. She attended schools in Iowa before moving to Colorado. LaVonne married Wilbur Freeman on December 28, 1953, in Sharon Springs, Colorado. LaVonne and Wilbur lived in and around Brighton since 1956. She and Wilbur operated a farm in Strasburg, CO from 1972 until 1993. She worked at Ritchie Manufacturing for 20 years, followed by 13 years at WalMart. She retired in 2007.

She loved gardening, decorating, bird watching, and visiting with friends. She adored her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

LaVonne is survived by her children; Larry Montgomery of Henning, MN; Dennis and wife Beverly Montgomery of Westminster, CO; Roger and wife Shirley Freeman of Strasburg, CO; and Charlotte DiCarlo of Mesa, AZ.; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Cameron, age 101, of Lincoln, NE. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur Freeman, son Russell Montgomery, and 2 brothers Alvin and Jess Edwards.

Services will be held on Friday, December 13, 2019 at 9:00am at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home at 75 S. 13th Avenue, Brighton, CO followed by interment at Elmwood Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Elks Lodge, 101 N. Main St., Brighton. All are welcome to attend and celebrate LaVonne's life.
