Guadalupe O. Martinez "Lupe"

Guadalupe Orcilla Martinez, age 74, passed away at her residence in Henderson, Colorado on January 14, 2020. She was born on December 12, 1945 in Denver, Colorado to Herman and Rita Olivas and was a 1963 graduate of Westminster High School.

Growing up, Lupe lived in the Westminster area, where she spent a majority of her life owning and operating “The Hair Gallery”, which she had for over 30 years. She valued cooking for and spending time with her loving family and was a devoted, loyal member of the Catholic community.  To pass the time she also enjoyed sewing quilts, working in her beautiful garden, traveling and collecting beautiful angels. She was always considered to be a mother to everybody around her, and greatly appreciated listening to Elvis, Tom Jones and Mexican music. Lupe was a loving, hardworking woman and a doting grandmother to her 6 grandkids and great granddaughter.  She enjoyed spending all of her time with her friends and family. She will be missed by all!

Lupe is survived by her mother, Rita Olivas of Center, Colorado. Along with her three children, Yolanda and her husband, Bob Jones of Morrison, CO, Gerald and his wife Lorrie Martinez of Brighton, CO, and Mike (Boog) and his wife, Janice Martinez of Avondale, AZ. Eight siblings: Bobby Olivas, Patrica Rendon, Tony Olivas, Susie Garcia, Linda Portillo, Dennis Olivas, Greg Olivas and Cindy Thompson along with six grandchildren; Christopher, Marcus, Alec, Reece, Lucas, Alison and 1 great grandchild, Aspen.

Lupe is preceded in passing by her father Herman Olivas. 

A Rosary will be held in Lupe’s honor at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Brighton on Friday, January 17th at 11:00am followed by a memorial mass starting at 11:30am. Family, friends and all of those whose lives Lupe has touched are welcome to attend and join us in celebrating her life at the church reception hall immediately following the service.
